Choosing Between Social Bookmarking or Not

Choosing Between Social Bookmarking or Not

Do you feel like you are a serious Internet marketer? There always appears to be different levels of seriousness as you begin to analyze successful Internet marketing businesses. One area that is definitely true is when it comes to social bookmarking.

If you blog you should be social bookmarking. Social bookmarking is part of social networking and it is way to get your blog message out to the public. You certainly want readers coming back to your blog and your RSS feed does that for you.

But how do you get readers to your blog in the first place?

One of the best ways to do that is to social bookmark each blog post that you make to various social directories. Depending on the blogging platform that you use this can be extremely easy to do.

For example, WordPress offers a plug in that contains many different social directories that you can submit to. Another thing you can do is go to Onlywire and join over 20 social directories at one time.

Then every time you make a blog post you go to only to your Onlywire account and submit one time and it will then be bookmarked to all of these different directories. This is a quick way if time is an issue for you.

However, we would suggest that if you are a serious Internet marketer that you take the time to bookmark your blog post to a handful of other top social directories. These should include the Digg, Propeller, Stumbleupon, Technorati, and others!

What happens when you social bookmark a post is you are creating a link with a short summary back to the blog URL itself. This is a great way for readers to come to your blog and discover more about you.

This also creates search engine bait as the search engines will spider these top social directories more often than they will your own website or blog. When you social book you create a backlink and the search engines will come and spider you on a consistent basis.

If you properly blog by targeting specific longtail keyword phrases, then you will find yourself ending up on page 1 of some of the top search engines for your blog post. This will create even more traffic for you.

As you can see there really is no choice comes to social bookmarking. If you are not doing that you are missing out on tremendous traffic and of course potential income.

What Is The Difference Between Social Networking and Social Bookmarking

What Is The Difference Between Social Networking and Social Bookmarking

Certainly the social aspect of Internet marketing has really kicked in the past couple of years. You knew it was going to be important when we saw Fox purchased My Space, and Google purchased You Tube. Many people do not understand the marketing aspect of social networking and social bookmarking, so let’s take a look at that in this article.

Social networking is a phenomena defined by linking people to each other in some way. Digg is a popular example of a social network. It allows you to interact with people online in a social way that a website would not.

Social bookmarking is the ability to save and categorize a personal collection of bookmarks and share them with others. For example you can post an article in your blog and then go to Stumbleupon and bookmark it for everyone to read. This is a great way to get traffic to your blog.

If you are a social person to person by nature than creating a profile in a social directory such as My Space or Facebook is a great way to get started with social networking. These are very good because you are able to meet people on the Internet with similar interests to yours.

It’s a great way to make new friends, and eliminate some of the loneliness that comes with Internet marketing. It is also a great way to make future business contacts for your business and potential joint ventures.

Social bookmarking is really easy when you use plug-ins for examples on WordPress for a blog post. Onlywire.com is a service where you can bookmark to over 20 social directories with one click.

If you write your blog post so that they target a specific keyword phrase than social bookmarking can be great for search engine bait as well. You can easily do this by putting your keyword phrase in your title, in the first and last paragraph of your blog article, and then using variations of it in the body itself.

When you bookmark your post, the title tells your readers and the search engines what your blog article is about. Search engines will spider popular social directories such as Propeller, Reddit, Digg, and so on more often than they would spider your own blog.

Therefore it is a great way for the search engines to quickly find you again amongst the billions of blogs and websites online.

This is a quick overview on the difference between social networking and social bookmarking. They both can be great for your business, and should become a part of your overall marketing mix.
