A Quick Guide to Help You Social Bookmark Your Blog Posts

A Quick Guide to Help You Social Bookmark Your Blog Posts

Social bookmarking can provide your home business with many benefits. Traffic though is the major benefit of bookmarking all of your blog posts. Many beginners are not familiar with the social bookmarking process. Here’s a few tips to help.

Let me first start by explaining what social bookmarking is and why it is important to social bookmark all of your blog posts. Quite simply stated, social bookmarking will bring your blog more traffic. As internet marketers, that it exactly what we are all after. Social bookmark sites allow us to share our favorite sites with others who might be interested as well as increasing our back links at the same time.

All the links that you leave have the potential to bring traffic back to your blog. As you begin to regularly submit your link to authority social bookmarking sites, like Digg, Twitter, and Stumbleupon, your blog will benefit greatly by moving up rank rapidly in the search engines for your selected keywords.

Now just a quick tutorial on how to easily social bookmark your blog posts.

Finding a list of social bookmarks to submit to is your first item of agenda. There are plenty around, just do a Google search or go to SocialMarker.com.

Next you have to sign up at each bookmarking site. This process may take up to an hour but keep in mind that you are only going to have to go through this process one time.

Once you have enrolled in all 40 or so social sites it’s time to submit your first blog post. The easiest way to do this is to type out your blog posts url, title, description, and tags in a separate window, preferably in Notepad, Article Notepad, or Wordpad. Any of the above will work.

Once you have the info typed out, go ahead and cascade the notepad and your browser so that they are side by side on your monitor. (If you are using SocialMarker you won’t have to use this method.)

Make sure the list of social sites is up and open on your browser, then right click and open the first ten or so sites in a new tab. If your computer is fast enough you can go ahead and open all the sites. If not, just open as much as your computer will allow.

Now all you have to do is click and drag the required info when submitting your blog post.

Close it and move to the next once you include all of the needed info.

That’s it! That’s all that is involved with social bookmarking. A simple little task like this may take an hour a day but will greatly increase the amount of traffic you receive to your blog.

Keep in mind though that some social sites will penalize you for submitting too many of your own blog posts. Find some friends or peers and take turns submitting each others posts.

Whatever you do, do not under estimate the power of social bookmarking. Try to make it a point to submit one blog post a day. Doing so will really make a huge difference in the traffic you’re going to see as a result.

A Beginners Guide to ISP Inbox Delivery

We’ve discussed blacklisting, I wanted to spend some time looking at where the rubber hits the road for email delivery: the ISP inbox.

The best way to automate your complete process of social bookmarking is available at bookmarking demon. Also – automated social bookmarking is the best way to take your search engine ranking to the highest level in no time at all.Let’s be very clear about this for consumer facing campaigns there are 4 major ISP’s that manage the majority of consumer inboxes.• MSN/Hotmail• Yahoo Mail• AIM Mail• GmailWhat Does this Mean?Basically unless each of these mail platforms relays your message to the primary folder, your email campaign is far from optimized. What Causes mail to be delivered to a bulk/spam Folder? All of these ISP’s allow their users to report spam with a “report spam” button. The ISP uses this feedback to create a profile for your mail. If users are reporting your mail as spam you will run into problems. What Can I do to make sure I do not create ISP Spam complaints?AOL recommends keeping spam complaints below 1-3 percent of traffic, depending on volume. This figure is unique to AOL’s user base; it’s too generous when applied as a general standard. Be at or below the range of one complaint per 6,000 to 8,000 messages, or 0.013 percent.Minimize ComplaintsMinimizing complaints always starts with practices used to collect e-mail addresses. It should be obvious by now sending unsolicited e-mail only gets you in trouble. Mailing lists with the lowest complaint rates are either confirmed opt-in or properly managed single opt-in. If you have a solid permission-based list but still find incoming complaints are higher than the optimal rate or are rising, consider the following:• Brand your subject lines. Mail systems with spam complaint buttons offer it at the inbox level. A recipient need only to scan subject lines and decide which messages not to delete immediately. A subject line such as “Exciting offers for you, Bob!” will surely be marked as spam. Consider using your company or newsletter name in brackets at the beginning of your subject lines.• Consider including unsubscribe instructions at the top of your e-mail, in addition to the footer. Some users use the “report spam” button as an unsubscribe method and won’t scroll through an entire message to find that link.• Include instructions for users to whitelist your domain. This prevents a user-based filter from mistaking your message for spam and either diverting it to the spam folder or prefixing “[SPAM]” to the subject of the message.• Provide a preference update page. Disclose how your organization will use a subscriber’s e-mail addresses, and how often. Allow subscribers to select preferences on the opt-in form, and link from e-mail to a preference or profile update page.• Avoid spammy looking content. Try not to use garish, bold fonts; large, red letters, and the like. Avoid images with poor compression quality. A clean, readable design isn’t as likely to be mistaken for spam.• Don’t over e-mail. If recipients expect to receive a few informational e-mail messages each month from your company, don’t suddenly start sending two or three each week.• Don’t send unexpected e-mail. If subscribers opted in to receive your “Trends & Tips” newsletter, don’t send them your hard-sell e-commerce messages, unless they clearly requested them.• Include opt-in information. If possible, add to your e-mail admin area information, such as the subscriber’s e-mail address, date of opt-in, and how she potentially subscribed (product registration, white paper download form, sweepstakes entry, etc). With many subscribers receiving dozens of commercial e-mail messages daily, it’s easy to forget signing up for your newsletter — and then to file a complaint. What Can I do to test my ISP deliverability? We recommend you use a service like EmailReach. Their trial is free and let’s you know where you stand in about 5 minutes.http://www.bookmarkingdemon.biz/default.aspxFollowing these guidelines should help you to avoid being bulk foldered by the main ISP’s.

Guide To Create Social Bookmarking Website Using Scuttle

Guide To Create Social Bookmarking Website Using Scuttle

Scuttle is a free and open source social bookmarking software developed in PHP and MySQL and is available for download at many websites.

This is basic step by step guide to quickly set up your new scuttle social bookmarking website. Here the assumptions made are that you are already familiar with purchasing domain names and setting up hosting and MySQL databases. But if you do not have this experience then you can find the information about it  online.

1.First you need to have a domain to host the website on, you have three options here, preferably one with a name that suits the purpose although almost any name can be made to fit:

The quickest is to use a domain with a suitable name that you already own and is lying dormant or parked waiting for that big new project, unfortunately not everyone is that lucky.
The next quickest is to go to GoDaddy or a similar registrar and purchase a suitable domain.
The third and slowest method is to buy a deleting name with existing page rank from GoDaddy or similar auction sites. You will find that this may be the slowest method but gives you a head start regarding building up backlinks and page rank.

2.On next step, you will require some hosting, if you don’t already have hosting try my favorites: Dreamhost or Bluehost.
3.Now you will require to set up a database for Scuttle to use, make a note of the database name and sign on credentials.
4.Go to sourceforge website and just download the latest version of Scuttle to your hard drive. Unzip all the files at proper place. Look for the proper file to set up the Scuttle tables in your new database in your PC.
5.config.inc.php file is ready to edit which is using your new database details. There are few other options that can be configured also but for the moment this is all you need to do.
6.Now, just using an FTP utility like FileZilla or any other upload all the files and folders that you unzipped to the root directory of your domain.
7.Now you need  to set up the CHMOD permissions on the /cache subdirectory to 777.
8.You are done with this and ready to rock and roll! Now you need to go to the root directory of yournewdomain.com and then start entering some of your own bookmarks.

You will find that the social bookmarking crowd will find your site by searching for certain Scuttle unique keyword phrases such as “store, share and tag your favourite links” and “inurl:sort=url_asc”. However it is much better to speed up along the procedure by doing some social bookmarking of your own to get your website seen and indexed more quickly.

Bookmarking Software – Guide

Bookmarking Demon has always been really easy to create new social bookmarking accounts with, but BMD5 makes this even simpler with the new email verification function. As you know, when you create accounts on social bookmarking sites, many of them require you to login to your email and click on a link to verify your account. With BMD5, you don’t have to do this anymore. Now you just add in your email accounts, and the software will perform the account verification for you with a click of the ‘Process Emails’ button. There is default support for the gmail account settings, although you do have to login to your gmail and manually enable POP access so BMD can properly retrieve your emails.Bookmarking manually to many sites is a time consuming process. With BookmarkingDemon, you can now finish bookmarking in a few minutes! I am using Bookmarking Demon on many of my sites for the past 3 months and I’ve had nothing but big success from it.With BD there are two types of bookmarking sites that can be used: the big “legitimate” sites such as Mister Wong, Spurl, Simpy, Faves, etc as well as scuttle sites which are Open Source script bookmarking sites that anyone can build. (with the new version there are also ScuttlePlus sites and Pligg sites)Next up would be to enter the url’s of the pages you want to bookmark. The “title” is where you would put your desired anchor link or links. BD has a random feature which is very nice and allows you to put in as many anchor link titles as you want and it will randomly choose each time. You will want to enter as many keywords as you can think of because you will be getting an anchored link for each keyword. Note of caution: with all the “real” bookmarking sites you will want to include links from other web pages and not just the links to all your sites. This is because you want to disguise the fact that you are really only doing this to promote your own site(s) and they actually have people who check these things. You want to make it look like you are really bookmarking many different sites of interest and not only pages from your sites. The links you will be getting may show up tomorrow, next month, six months from now, or never. That is indeed frustrating but that is the nature of the Internet and the main search engines. The links will show up in Yahoo first as they are more liberal than Google in showing links. Additionally, I have had my bookmarking links show up on the first page of Google when my actual site was no where to be found. I have gotten some traffic in those instances. When you see your links showing up on Google or Yahoo you at least know they are there and doing you some good.I have been using this software for about a year now, and do highly recommend it. The product is easy to use and does what it says. For the one time price; it is worth it, as long as you use it as it was intended. Also, for a limited time you can get a cash back rebate using the link below.Over the past few months I’ve heard a lot of talk about bookmarking demon. With most of these tools it seems like some of them have a very very short shelf life. That is one of the main reasons I waited to try bookmarking demon. Now I’m kicking myself because I didn’t give it a shot earlier!
